Course overview:

The Building Motivation and Balance Course is a four-week online program delivered via Zoom, designed to help you improve your mood and create a better balance in life. Each session lasts between 60-75 minutes, and sessions are held once a week. This course is based on techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and is focused on helping you make positive changes in how you spend your time.

Course objectives:

The main aim of this course is to teach you skills that will help you increase motivation and develop healthier habits. By learning these skills, you can improve your productivity, balance your life, and work toward your goals with more confidence.

What does the course cover?

In session 1 you will learn about depression and how low activity levels can make you feel down. You’ll also be introduced to behavioural activation, a method that encourages you to take small positive actions to lift your mood.

Session 2 is about categorising and prioritising activities, so you can focus on things that are helpful and let go of activities that might be holding you back.

Session 3 will guide you in setting up goals, planning activities, and handling any obstacles that come up.

In the final session, you’ll review your progress and learn strategies to deal with setbacks and stay on track for the future.

By joining this course, you’ll gain strategies to overcome procrastination, improve your productivity, and build habits that support your well-being. You’ll learn ways to keep yourself motivated over the long term and find tools to balance work, life, and personal goals.

This course will also help you understand and manage your emotions better, develop confidence, and celebrate your small wins. You’ll connect with others facing similar challenges, building a support network without the need to share personal information. The skills you learn here will help you stay on track and avoid slipping back into old patterns.

After the course, you’ll receive a one-to-one follow-up call to check in, receive feedback on the course, answer any questions you may have and discuss what next steps are appropriate to continue your progress and development.

What to expect?

Throughout the course, there will be interactive tasks to help you engage with the material, and you’ll have tasks to complete between sessions to put what you’ve learned into practice. You’ll be in a group setting, but with cameras and microphones turned off for everyone, so you can focus on learning and participating in a way that feels comfortable and private.
