What is it?

Bereavement or Grief is how we describe the feelings of loss and sadness when someone close to us has died, or in some cases when we have lost them from our lives (a relationship breakdown for example).

What does it feel like?

Grief and bereavement are very individual, and no two people have the same experience.  You may feel lost, angry, sad, numb or even that you are going mad.  You may even feel all of those things together, or at different times.  There is no right or wrong way to feel at this time.

For most people, these difficulties will become less debilitating over time, but others will continue to struggle.  In some cases, the nature of the loss may complicate the grieving process.  If the loss is particularly traumatic, this can be especially difficult.
